Art 1

Art 1 is a two-semester foundational course which provides students the opportunity to hone artistic skills, knowledge of and facility with academic art vocabulary and develop language skills required for critical and insightful discourse. Art 1 integrates the Elements of the Art and the Principles of Design to the art- making processes of creation, presentation, responding and making connections.

3D Design

This course provides students with practical knowledge and experience in the production of art using a variety of design 3 dimensional media and techniques. It is an exploration of the mediums of clay, metal, paper, wood, plaster, wire and jewelry making. The projects in this class may serve as functional items or fine art works.

AP Art History

AP Art history is designed to be a college level survey course approved by College Board. Students will learn from a College Board set list of 250 artworks chronologically, beginning with Paleolithic painting/sculpture and ending with Post-Modernist contemporary artists. We will explore ancient through the Medieval ages, and global arts including Africa, the ancient North and South Americas, Asia, Near East, Oceania, and Islamic traditions.

IB Visual ARt

This course encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. It is a thought-provoking course in which students develop analytical skills in problem-solving and divergent thinking, while working towards technical proficiency and confidence as art-makers. In addition to exploring and comparing visual arts from different perspectives and in different contexts, students are expected
to engage in, experiment with and critically reflect upon a wide range of contemporary practices
and media.
