Brainstorm some of your most memorable dreams. This can be because of:
The strangeness of the dream
Scary elements
How the dream made you feel
Fantastical elements
The participants
Guidelines: 1. Brainstorm at least 3 variations/compositions of your dream. Try different angles or points of emphasis. 2.Create a composition that uses both watercolor and graphite. 3. Part of your composition must remain exclusively in graphite. Use at least 2 different watercolor techniques.
After watching the scene in Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy first walks out into Munchkinland, reflect on these questions in your sketchbook:
What do you think is magical about Dorothy's first impression of Oz? Why do you think Oz is in color vs. Dorothy's home back in Kansas?
After you've chosen your dream: Were you watching yourself take part in your dream, as an outsider, or was this a first person dream? Were you even in your dream? Why was this dream memorable? Was it an object, the scenery, maybe the participants?
What do you think is the meaning of this dream? What did you choose to keep in graphite? What is significant about the elements in watercolor?
